AT LEAST I NEED NOT KISS
At Least I Need Not Kiss tells a story of people unable to grasp the constant proximity of death as well as some of the traditional notions of life beyond death. Religion and with it heaven and hell are staged not as beliefs but as experiments, as empty structural places; settings, illusions. Increasingly it leaves behind traditional storytelling, characters and a realistic way of staging, exchanging them for feelings, atmospheres and fragments of thoughts. This results in a theatre piece not focused on story, word or performer's singularity, but rather on the collective - a chorus being reborn in to an ensemble - how does the collective thought/impulse embody a fantasy.
We're implementing undergraduate and postgraduate university programmes to train students for professions in the fields of theatre, radio, film and television, implementing creative activities in theatre, radio, film and television intrinsic to education in art professions, research activities in the scientific fields of theatre and film studies. The Academy is committed to remain a leading and preeminent educational institution in the fields of theatre, radio, film and television by following the most innovative contemporary guidelines in art and to convey to its students the finest of what past experiences have to offer. The Academy has consolidated its position in theatre and film studies in Slovenia as well as internationally, and enriched many areas in creative and scientific output in Slovenia and abroad.
Dorian Silec Petek works in the field of theatre direction ansd set design. His performances have been presented at Triennale di Milano (IT), FLARE - festival of radical theatre (GB), Istropolitana Theatre Festival (SK), Borstnikovo Festival (SI) and Watermill Centre New York (USA). His latest directorial works include Alice in Bed (by Susan Sontag), Teardrops (by Prezihov Voranc) and Amelia E. (devised work), Unbereably Long Embraces (by Ivan Viripayev) and Milk and Blood (by Nebojsa Pop Tasic). He designed sets and visuals for several performances in Slovene National Theatre Drama Ljubljana (SI), Ljubljana City Theatre (SI), Celje Theatre (SI), National Opera and Ballet Ljubljana (SI), Glej Theatre SI), Slovene Youth Theatre (SI), and Watermill Centre (USA). During his study of theatre direction at Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television in Ljubljana he was a six-time participant at Robert Wilson's International Summer Program at the Watermill Centre and was assistant director to directors Silvio Purcarete, Jernej Lorenci,Vito Taufer.
The play At Least I Need Not Kiss was a final performance of this generation of students. Since then some of them applied for masters in acting at our academy and most of them are working as actors in multiple theatres in Slovenia.
